Ukrainian electro-folk band ONUKA announces a special concert series in Kyiv dedicated to its roots and the music that shaped the group’s distinctive sound. Over two evenings, the band will perform its key albums in full — “ONUKA” and “MOZAЇKA” — opening up different chapters of its creative journey for the audience.
Two nights — two iconic albums
The first concert of the series is devoted to the debut studio album “ONUKA”, released in 2014 and which immediately topped the iTunes album chart. The record blended traditional Ukrainian instruments — sopilka, bandura, trembita — with modern electronic arrangements, becoming a benchmark of the folktronica genre and the foundation of a new musical aesthetic.
The mystical “Time”, the legendary Kyiv-dedicated track “Misto”, and the dynamic “When I Met You” and “Look” — these songs have already become cult classics and have not been performed live for many years.
The second evening will unveil “MOZAЇKA” — a cohesive musical canvas composed of hundreds of details and fragments. At its core lies the personal story of Nata Zhyzhchenko: her emotions, memories, and tributes to loved ones and musical inspirations, as well as a sensitive response to events in the surrounding world.
Among the album’s key themes are the construction of the arch over the fourth reactor of the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant and the anti-war manifesto “Guns Don’t Shoot”: it is not the weapon that shoots — it is the human being. Each composition is a complete conceptual statement that leaves a deep emotional impact.
